Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has firmly stated that he will not be taking charge of another club. The Catalan coach, who recently extended his contract with the Citizens for two more seasons, made the revelation during an interview on the podcast 'Desmontadito', hosted by renowned chef Dani García.
"I'm not going to coach another team. I'm not talking about the future, future..., but what I'm not going to do is leave [Manchester City] to go to another country. I won't have the energy anymore," Guardiola declared.
While the former Barcelona manager has shut the door on managing another club at the club level, he left the possibility open for a role with a national team. "I could consider a national team, but it's different, it's not day-to-day," he added.
Guardiola expressed his deep satisfaction with his time at Manchester City. "Manchester City means a lot to me. This is my ninth season here; we've experienced incredible moments together. I have a very special feeling for this football club. That's why I'm so happy to stay for two more seasons," said Pep after signing his contract extension.
The Catalan coach emphasized the intensity and demands of managing a top-tier club, explaining why he felt it would be difficult to replicate that energy at another club. "Thinking about starting over, going through the whole training process... Ugh. A national team is different, it's not day-to-day," he reiterated.
Guardiola's decision to stay at Manchester City has been met with enthusiasm by the club's fans and players alike. His commitment to the club has been evident in the team's success over the past few seasons, with the Citizens winning multiple domestic and European trophies under his guidance.
While Guardiola has ruled out managing another club, he has hinted at the possibility of taking on a new challenge in the future. A role with a national team could provide him with a different perspective on the game and allow him to work with a wider range of players.
However, for now, Guardiola is fully focused on his job at Manchester City. The Catalan coach is determined to continue building on the success he has achieved at the club and to lead the Citizens to even greater heights in the coming seasons.
