Manchester City are reportedly looking to bolster their midfield options in the upcoming January transfer window. With the club experiencing a somewhat inconsistent start to the Premier League season, the Cityzens are keen to strengthen their squad and challenge for both domestic and European honors.

According to reports, Manchester City have identified Real Sociedad's Martín Zubimendi and Newcastle United's Bruno Guimarães as their primary targets. Both players have been impressive in La Liga and the Premier League respectively, and have attracted the interest of several top European clubs.

Zubimendi, a young and technically gifted midfielder, would bring a much-needed creative spark to the City midfield. His ability to dictate the tempo of the game and find teammates with incisive passes would be a valuable asset to Pep Guardiola's side.

Guimarães, on the other hand, is a more defensive-minded midfielder known for his physicality and ability to win the ball back. His presence would add steel to the City midfield and provide better protection for the back four.

Manchester City's recent dip in form has highlighted the need for reinforcements in the middle of the park. The club has been heavily reliant on Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne, and injuries to either of these players could have a significant impact on the team's performance.

The addition of Zubimendi and Guimarães would not only provide the City squad with greater depth but also allow Guardiola to rotate his squad more effectively. This would be particularly important in a season that includes the FIFA World Cup.

With their deep pockets and reputation for attracting the world's best players, Manchester City are well-placed to secure the signings of Zubimendi and Guimarães. However, they will face stiff competition from other top European clubs.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester City will be successful in their pursuit of these two highly-rated midfielders. However, one thing is certain: the club is determined to strengthen its squad and challenge for all available honors.
