Matheus Cunha has become one of the most sought-after players in English football following a standout season with Wolverhampton. The 25-year-old Brazilian forward has impressed with his goals, flair in one-on-one situations, and ability to operate across the front line. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with several Premier League clubs reportedly tracking him.
However, a new development in recent hours could shift the trajectory of Cunha’s career. According to TalkSport, Ruben Amorim has identified the Brazilian as a top priority if he is appointed as Manchester United’s next manager.
Currently in charge of Sporting Lisbon, Amorim is among the leading candidates to replace Erik ten Hag, should the Dutchman depart at the end of the season. The Portuguese tactician is believed to already have a list of reinforcements in mind to revitalise the squad, with Cunha at the top. Amorim is keen to inject pace, creativity, and Premier League experience into United’s frontline, and Cunha fits the bill perfectly.
As reported by TalkSport, Amorim has urged United’s board to act swiftly to secure the former Atletico Madrid striker, amid fears that other major clubs could also enter the race. Cunha, who is still under contract with Wolves, is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about names in the upcoming transfer window.
If Ruben Amorim does land the Old Trafford job, Matheus Cunha could well become the first marquee signing of a new era at Manchester United.
