The Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuaín is known for his scoring skills and there is no doubt that he made his way to show off to the world. His father, Jorge ‘Pipa’ Higuaín was also a professional football player who passed his love for that sport to both Gonzalo, and his brother Federico who's also a soccer player. At the time Gonzalo was born, Jorge was playing in France, the reason why he has both the Argentine and French nationality.

He started playing professionally for Argentinian internationally known team, 'River Plate', but was soon noticed by Spanish 'Real Madrid' who signed him for a  €12 million fee in 2006. His performance was outstanding. Gonzalo Higuaín was key for Real to win three 'La Liga' titles, scoring 107 goals in 190 matches.

From golden times to bye-bye

When asked, Gonzalo Higuaín always says that he'd never imagine to play only 6 months for 'River Plate' and be sold to 'Real Madrid.' In his head, he thought he'd play at least two years for the Argentinian club.

But he showed he had the skills to be part of one of the most important European teams, as he showed his talent as a goalscorer. He even scored more than superstar Cristiano Ronaldo: during the Portuguese first season with the team, Higuaín scored 27 goals while Ronaldo scored 26.

Higuaín spent more than six years playing for 'Real Madrid', disputing 190 matches between 2007 and 2013, and scoring 107 times. He demonstrated several times he was talented and key to the team. Though there have been golden times for Gonzalo Higuaín and 'Real Madrid', in 2013 "Pipita" decided it was time for him to go somewhere else.

According to Gonzalo's father, Jorge, he played for many years, and the relationship with the club had already started to wear out for several reasons. Among the motives, he listed unfulfilled promises, postponed meetings, and little protection of "Pipita" by Real. Quoting Jorge Higuaín: "The good things he did were minimized, and the bad things were enhanced. When the club had to show up it didn't, which helped him (Gonzalo) decide to leave".
