The Argentinian football striker Gonzalo Higuaín is well-known for his talents as a forward. His father, Jorge "Pipa" Higuaín, was also an international soccer superstar, who led Gonzalo to fall in love with this sport. 

Besides his love for playing football, Gonzalo Higuaín inherited his father's nickname. Jorge was known as "Pipa", while Gonzalo's nickname is "Pipita". His first steps as a football player was in 'Club Palermo' in Buenos Aires, but at age 10 he was signed by the great Argentinian team 'River Plate'.

From River Plate to Inter Miami

As said before, he started his career at 'Club Palermo' but was rapidly signed by 'River Plate'. His first score for 'River' was in a match in 2006, against local team 'Banfield'. He was a crucial member of the team during the 2006 'Copa Libertadores'. It wasn't just his first experience in an international tournament, but the first time he scored against an international team, Brazilian 'Corinthians'.

In 2006 he was signed by Spanish 'Real Madrid' for €12 million. During the 2008/09 season, Higuaín was key for his team's win against ‘Valencia’, during the 'Supercopa'. In the 2009/10 season, "Pipita" became the top goalscorer for his team, with 29 league goals, becoming La Liga's second-top goalscorer, just behind international superstar, Lionel Messi.

 

With 121 goals in 264 games, Gonzalo Higuaín left 'Real Madrid' to go to the Italian team, 'Napoli' in 2013. He signed a 5-year contract for €40 million. He scored his first goal in his debut, and had an outstanding performance during his first season. During the 2015/16 season, Higuaín broke the record for most goals in a 'Serie A' tournament, with 26 goals. He was transferred to 'Juventus' in 2017, for €90 million.

During the 2018/19 season, he was lent to the 'Milan' and the 'Chelsea', and in the 2019/20 season que returned to the 'Juve', but his contract was ended in 2020 and he signed for USA's Major League Soccer club, 'Inter Miami', were he's still playing.
