LAFC was defeated on the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs of the Western Conference against Seattle Sounders. The team coached by Bob Bradley lost 3-1 and was eliminated very soon on the competition. Carlos Vela completed the match for his team, but had a very complicated night.

The Mexican attacker faced a strange season, as he was injured during almost all of it and came back in the last weeks in a good form. But, against Seattle, the attacker wasn’t able to play a good game and even missed a penalty that could have meant a tie in the game during the first half.

Finally, Vela gave an assist to Eduardo Atuesta in the unique goal scored by his side. Fans on social media mocked Vela due to his irregular performance. The forward passed from being compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic with his great comeback to being called Chicharito Hernández, who had a very bad season.

Vela played only eight MLS matches this season, with a result of four goals scored and a pair of assists given. After two years at the club, the Mexican can’t achieve the great objective of gaining the local title. For this match his team suffered hard absences, as the ones of Diego Rossi, Brian Rodríguez, Diego Palacios or José Cifuentes.
