When Weston McKennie decided to go to Germany with only 17 years old, possibly he never thought that four years later he would be one of the biggest seeks on European soccer. The US national team member has gained confidence playing at Shalke 04 and different teams on the English Premier League want to buy him for next season.

According to the Daily Mail, two English teams would battle to get McKennie's services. Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce is willing to spend almost $22M in the midfielder born in Little Elm, Texas. However, Southampton also would make an offer close to that number as they are looking a player to replace Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, who left the Saints to join fellow Premier League club Tottenham.

A few days ago, Shalke 04 rejected an offer from Hertha Berlin. It seemed that McKennie was going to stay in Germany, but rumors are increasing and a big sell could be beneficial for both parts. McKennie still has his goal to adquire more international matches with the US national team, after loosing the chance of playing in the World Cup, two years ago.
