The Mexican Liga BBVA MX has made another export to the European leagues and the latest of such is Orbelin Pineda Alvarado. The 25-year-old midfielder will join Spanish La Liga side, Celta Vigo in January 2022 when his current deal with Liga MX side, Cruz Azul expires in December 2021. Pineda caught the attention of Celta Vigo after leading Cruz Azul to the Guardianes 2021 trophy and also turning in impressive performances for the Mexican National Team in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament. He will join Nestor Araujo at the Spanish club.

Orbelin Pineda broke into the Liga MX limelight with Queretaro in the 2014/15 season after spending the 2 previous seasons in the club's youth teams. 9 goals from midfield in 59 games in 18 months for Queretaro convinced Guadalajara to sign Pineda during the 2015/16 season. Pineda played a further three and half seasons at Guadalajara, scoring 10 goals in 126 matches for the Liga MX side. 

Orbelin Pineda then moved to Cruz Azul during the 2018/19 season and has since been influential for the club, scoring 13 goals in 103 matches. He will now join Celta Vigo after he chose not to renew his contract with Cruz Azul beyond 2021. He will join the Spanish La Liga side as a free agent.

Orbelin Pineda has been quite successful in his time at the Mexican Liga MX. This is partly because he has played in successful sides while he has also contributed to the success of the teams with his energetic displays from midfield. While at Guadalajara, Pineda won the 2017 Liga MX: Clausura as well as the 2017 Copa MX: Clausura. Before this, he had won the Supercopa MX in 2016. Pineda was part of the Guadalajara squad that won the prestigious CONCACAF Champions League in 2018. 

At Cruz Azul, Pineda won the Inaugural Leagues Cup in 2019 as well as the Supercopa MX for the second time in his career in 2019. His energetic displays led to Cruz Azul's 2021 Guardianes Cup success. Individually, Orbelin Pineda was included in the 2021 Liga MX All-star squad. On the international scene, he helped the El Tri to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2019.
