Carlos Vela has been one of the best Mexican players from the last decade. Despite quitting the national team, the attacker had an impressive career at Europe and show all his talent and skills to the entire world. In 2018, after more than a decade playing in Europe, he decided to return to America.

The forward joined Los Angeles FC MLS side in a transfer closed by Real Sociedad for $5 million. It was his great return, and he rapidly adapted to the team, in which he transformed into the MLS MVP and top-scorer in the same season, setting an all-time record for goals scored in a unique campaign.

But after three years Vela could return to Europe, as he has received to offers to leave LAFC. The first one is from a team in which he has already played: CA Osasuna. The Spanish side in which he played 33 matches offered him to make his return. The other club is Olympique Lyon, the club that is about to sell Memphis Depay to FC Barcelona and thinks that he is a good replacement.

Vela is one of the best paid players at the MLS and is very comfortably installed in the United States with his family, some reasons why it is unlikely to think that he could move to Europe once again. Nevertheless, it can’t be confirmed that he won’t be doing it, as he has now two offers that he must analyze carefully at his 31 years old.

Past in Europe

Vela was formed in Chivas, but since very young he moved to Europe. Arsenal signed him for just $3 million on January 2006 and since then he never returned to play at his country. Celta de Vigo, UD Salamanca, West Bromwich, and, of course, the Gunners and Real Sociedad, were the clubs in which he played all that time.
