The MLS is set to continue bringing more stars after bringing Lionel Messi last summer to Inter Miami. Another star that could be brought into the league would be Sergio Ramos, who finished the season with Sevilla. His contract with his boyhood club is set to expire on June 30th, and the Spanish side will likely not offer him a new contract until the start of July. Ramos will be a free agent, which means he could join any club for free, but the salary may be very expensive to complete a deal. San Diego FC is interested in signing Ramos, but the club will make its MLS debut next year. Máximo de la Cruz Ramírez Ramírez reports that San Diego FC is offering Ramos a contract that will see him earning $12 million a year. Messi at Inter Miami reportedly earned $12 million a year, which is his base salary, meaning he would earn the same as Ramos. The difference is that Messi earns an annual compensation worth over $20.4 million.

Ramos played a total of 37 matches for Sevilla this season across all competitions. The Spanish defender scored seven goals and provided one assist during the season. Sevilla finished 14th in La Liga this season and registered a record of ten wins, 11 draws, and 17 losses after 38 league games played. Sevilla placed 4th in Group B in the Champions League; they were in the same group as Arsenal, PSV Eindhoven, and Lens.

San Diego FC is also interested in Neymar, Kevin De Bruyne, Hirving Lozano, and Guillermo Ochoa. The new MLS expansion team will become the MLS’ 30th club in the top flight of the United States. Ramos could be the first big name in the club since it has been weeks since the club has shown interest in the Spanish defender.
