Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino have parted ways with immediate effect, and now the club seeks a new manager ahead of next season. The Argentine manager was appointed as the coach of Chelsea last year and only lasted one full season with the club. With Chelsea looking for a manager, Jose Mourinho is now linked for the job as he is a free agent and wants to coach a team next season. Along with Mourinho’s potential arrival at Stamford Bridge, the Portuguese manager has reportedly looked forward to one day reuniting with Cristiano Ronaldo before the striker retires. If Mourinho is appointed as the new manager of Chelsea, Ronaldo could also join the squad and become the main striker for the team next season. Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nassr expires next year, but if he considers leaving to join Chelsea, the London club will sign him for around $15 million since it’s his current market value, according to Transfermarkt.

Matt Law from the Daily Telegraph broke the story online, and Chelsea officially posted a statement on their website. Pochettino spoke about the decision and said, “Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history. The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.”

While Pochettino is heading out, the rumors of Mourinho joining Chelsea seem slim but possible. The club reportedly wants a younger coach next season, but if they can’t find an experienced modern manager, Mourinho would be an ideal replacement. Many questions if Ronaldo would play at Chelsea since his past at Manchester United, but he was heavily rumored to join Chelsea in 2022 after Man United released him in November. Instead of joining Chelsea, but then after the 2022 World Cup, he decided to join Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
