While FIFA have their favorite, Haaland won this important award

Erling Haaland had one of the best seasons that a striker has ever had. And to make it more impressive, the Norwegian did it in his first season at a new club, in a new system, under the best manager in the world. It’s not always the easiest to work under Pep Guardiola, but Erling Haaland made playing in that system like it was a piece of cake. There were worries about how a striker of his profile would work, but 18 months later, all doubts are erased from the minds.

Haaland came into last season as one of the best young players in the world, but the question was how could he adapt to Pep and how can he adapt to the league? Within ten games all questions were answered and Haaland would go on to win a treble with Manchester City. In the process of winning a treble the player managed to smash all single season goalscoring records there were in the Premier League. Haaland would score 36 goals in 35 games and would eight assists on top of those goals. It was a level of goalscoring the league had never seen before.

In the Champions League, Haaland would go on to score 12 goals in 11 games to continue his more goals than games played tally, and the more and more goals he scores in the UCL, the more legends he puts on notice. At this current rate, he’s eying Cristiano Ronaldo record. Yet despite all these records, trophies, and goals scored Haaland struggled to get the proper recognition for his season with the big awards.

Lionel Messi was able to snatch two of football’s biggest individual awards by winning the Ballon D’or and this past week winning The Best FIFA Men’s Player award. But they say third time is the charm, and for Haaland that proved to be the case as today he won an important individual award, winning Globe Soccer’s Best Men’s Player Award.

Haaland’s reaction to winning the Globe Soccer award

Haaland kept it humble in his speech after winning the award and immediately praised his club Manchester City and gave them a message. “Manchester City is a fantastic club, I really enjoy being here,” said Haaland.
