The summer window is still 5 months away but that does not mean that the rumors stop, nor does it mean that the planning stops. This January has been a far quieter window as opposed to last year’s window which saw a record-breaking amount of money spent. Financial situations are tough around here and with Financial Fair Play looming over everyone’s head clubs are scared to throw money away. Therefore, clubs are logically starting to lay out what they want to do this summer and what positions to go to after.

No one has thrown more money around in the last two years than Todd Boehly and Chelsea. What would consist of a ten-year budget for one club, for Chelsea is only two, and this summer Chelsea are expected to spend big money again. The clubs are not currently where they are envisioned to be as they are outside the top six and it looks like more players are needed. One crucial area that needs improvement is the left back position. Chelsea has used several players there this season but to no success.

Another club that needs a left back is Real Madrid as the club still has not found their successor to Marcelo. Ferland Mendy was good for the first couple of years but has not been at that level recently. Their new signing Fran Garcia has also struggled in his first year at the club. Luckily for both clubs, one of the best left backs in world football is likely to be available this summer.

Alphonso Davies is likely to be available for the right price this summer as he has yet to sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich. With his contract set to expire in 2025, this summer is Bayern’s last opportunity to cash out on the player if he refuses to sign a contract extension.

Latest reports on the situation

According to Fichajes, Chelsea is preparing a crazy move for Davies but Real Madrid and Manchester City still hold a strong interest for the player. Chelsea have shown they have the financial muscle over both clubs, but will they have the pulling power.
