When the match between Colombia and Argentina ended, Emiliano Martínez hit the camera of one of the workers who were on the court. The fact was recorded in a video that later went viral on social networks. The 'Dibu' was not entirely happy with what happened inside the field of play.
The problem is that Emiliano could not, with his specialty, catch penalties. James Rodríguez scored from the 12 steps and gave the victory to the Colombian National Team. The penalty came after a controversial play, because the Argentines claimed that it was not a penalty. In the end, uncertainty was generated, and the referee defined the sanction in detail.
As well as Dibu Martínez, the Argentine press was upset and on social networks they expressed their discomfort after the whistled penalty. For example, Pablo Giralt, in his X account said: "Piero Maza gave a controversial penalty and James put Colombia in the window. 2-1 over the Argentine National Team," likewise the commentators of TyC Sports commented: "The referee has no personality, there is no clear image that dictates punishment."
Dibu Martínez is a controversial soccer player, who already had a history with the Colombian public. In the previous America's Cup, he made fun of Yerry Mina in the penalty shootout and did his characteristic dance. Martínez was one of the main actors in this classification of Argentina because by his dances he distracted his rivals, that's why in Colombia he is not well accepted.
In recent years, the Dibu won the 'Golden Glove' largely because he was the architect of Argentina's title in Qatar 2022. Martínez was the protagonist in the penalty shootout. This is not the only case, in the last Copa América, Emiliano was fundamental in the match against Ecuador, where he was also a figure and gave the victory to Argentina in the same way.
