Lionel Messi has played for a few clubs throughout his career and is now at Inter Miami in the MLS. The Argentine star joined the Miami team last summer and since then has become a bigger star in the United States. A video by Icon showcased Messi signing shirts, not just any shirts but jerseys from the teams he has played with throughout his career. This includes different types of kits and shirts from Argentina, FC Barcelona, and Inter Miami. What causes controversy about this video is that it doesn’t show Messi actually signing his former PSG jerseys. In the video, it does appear that PSG shirts are in the mix of shirts for him to sign, but the video actually doesn’t show him signing one. Many speculate that the Argentine does not want to remember his two years in Paris since it wasn’t seen as a major success.

Messi joined Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2021 as a free agent as he left FC Barcelona, the club he played for many years. No one expected the Argentine to leave Barcelona, but when the move happened, lots of expectations arose from his transfer to PSG. Although Messi and PSG won Ligue 1 on two straight occasions in the 21/22 and the 22/23 seasons, the team couldn’t get past the round of 16 of the Champions League.

Messi also won the French Super Cup with PSG, but besides that, many PSG fans consider his signing a failure. The Argentine star made a total of 75 appearances with PSG from 2021 to 2023. He scored 32 goals and provided 35 assists for PSG in all competitions. The PSG fans booed Messi and Neymar after failures in the 2021/2022 season in the Champions League.
