Since returning to Santos FC, Neymar Jr has not only been a symbolic presence around the club but is also looking to build a strong project by attracting major names. In recent hours, the Brazilian star has become the focus of a surprising revelation: he is reportedly "driving mad" a World Cup winner in his bid to bring him to the Peixe. And no, it is not Lionel Messi.

The player in question is Leandro Paredes, Argentine midfielder, current Roma player and one of the key figures in Argentina's 2022 World Cup triumph. Speaking to Los Edul, Paredes shared the humorous yet persistent approach Neymar has taken to lure him to Brazil:

"Neymar sent me a video of the match (Argentina vs Brazil), laughing, and told me we did not need to play like that against Brazil. I spoke with him and he said he was awful off the pitch. Even now he keeps messaging me saying I have to go to Santos; he is driving me mad. I told him I do not want to. He always calls me," Paredes revealed.

Their relationship dates back to their time together at Paris Saint-Germain, where they developed a close friendship. Neymar is a firm admirer of Paredes’ skill and temperament, and views him as the perfect fit for the project he envisions at Santos.

What is clear is that Neymar’s return to the Brazilian club is more than just sentimental. He is deeply committed to shaping a competitive team, and the constant pressure he is putting on former teammates shows just how involved he intends to be. While Paredes has so far ruled out a move, the strong bond between the two could one day turn the tide.

Could a star-studded Santos be on the way?

Though there are currently no official talks between Santos and the Argentine midfielder, Paredes’ words have sparked excitement among fans. Neymar dreams of a competitive squad, and the possibility of adding a World Cup winner only raises expectations. Could this be the beginning of a new, star-powered Santos?
