Despite not featuring in Liverpool's Boxing Day victory over Leicester City, Colombian winger Luis Díaz earned high praise from manager Arne Slot.

The Liverpool boss highlighted Díaz's versatility and impact on the team, even though the Colombian was an unused substitute in the 3-1 win. Díaz has been in excellent form for the Reds this season, scoring 11 goals in 23 matches.

Díaz Absent but Not Forgotten: Slot Highlights Colombian's Importance

Slot commented on Díaz's ability to play in different positions: “Cody [Gakpo] has done very well. Lucho [Díaz] has done very well when he's played on the left, but in our opinion, Lucho is also capable of playing as a nine; he did very well against Tottenham. Against Spurs, maybe it was mainly Lucho and Mohamed Salah who dominated, now it was Cody again together with Salah. It's good to have so many options, in all positions in fact, but also in the front three.

The Dutch manager emphasized the importance of having multiple attacking options: "It's good to have so many options, in all positions in fact, but also in the front three."

While Díaz was absent from the matchday squad due to personal reasons, Slot made it clear that the Colombian remains a vital part of his plans.

Liverpool will continue their Premier League campaign with a match against West Ham United on Sunday, December 29th. The Reds will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table.
