FC Barcelona captain and one of the best goalkeepers on the planet, Marc-André Ter Stegen has not gone unnoticed by the pompous Arab soccer. The goalkeeper, who recently renewed his contract until 2028, is now on Al-Ittihad's agenda.

On August 25 last year, FC Barcelona announced the renewal of Marc-André Ter Stegen until 2028, in an operation where the club's wage bill was reduced in exchange for extending the German goalkeeper's contract for several more years, including a termination clause of €500 million.

After a few seasons far from his best, Ter Stegen played a key role in Barça's last league win. The German kept a clean sheet on many occasions and the defensive unreliability of this season has not allowed the Catalan team to defend their status as champions.

Now, as reported by Relevo, Marc-André Ter Stegen could be the protagonist of a resounding transfer. Ramon Planes, sporting director of Al-Ittihad, wants to get the former Borussia Mönchengladbach player. In fact, the Catalan knows Ter Stegen from his time at the Catalan club between 2018 and 2021.

Goodbye Ter Stegen

A signing that could help normalize Barça's financial situation, but which would force the club to look for a great goalkeeper in the transfer market, a very complicated undertaking. For their part, Al-Ittihad want to continue building their own constellation of stars after also showing interest in Son and Salah.
