Like Liverpool and Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona needs a new manager ahead of next season. The three clubs have been linked to many managers in recent weeks, and some are targeted by the same clubs. Barcelona is looking for the cheapest alternative for next season and the Catalan club wants to make sure to sign the right fit for the team as Xavi leaves at the end of this season.

FC Barcelona has been linked to names like Roberto De Zerbi, Hansi Flick, and Julian Nagelsmann. While Barca seems to like the options of De Zerbi and Flick, Nagelsmann has become a realistic option from out of nowhere. The German manager is currently the coach of the German national team, and he will take over until the end of the Euros tournament this summer. Nagelsmann and many German outlets are unsure if the German manager will continue to coach the national team after the Euros, but it might seem to depend on their performances.

Today, in a press conference after the list of call-ups for the upcoming friendlies against France and the Netherlands for the international break, Nagelsmann was asked about his future, which excites many European clubs, including FC Barcelona. Nagelsmann said, "There’s good chance that I'll sign before the Euros if I have an offer that I'm happy with. But I don't have anything on the table as of now. Nothing is concrete in terms of talks. My full focus is on the European Championships and the national team."

Nagelsmann calls up two FC Barcelona players

In the Germany squad for the France and the Netherlands friendlies, Nagelsmann called up Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Ilkay Gundogan. Nagelsmann said that Gundogan will remain captain ahead of Manuel Neuer. Nagelsmann said, "Ilkay Gundogan remains captain. But Manu's word will continue to have weight. The captain is intended to be a contact point for his teammates. Players should feel like they have a leader in their ranks. He’s a representative of the team."

When asked who would start between Ter Stegen and Neuer, Nagelsmann said, "We will have a conversation with both of them [Neuer and Ter Stegen] - and then decide."
