In a recent appearance on CBS Sports, Thierry Henry shared his astonishment at the impact of new players in football. The legendary former footballer highlighted the presence of Lamine Yamal and Franco Mastantuono, two young talents who are beginning to make a significant difference in the global football scene.
"One thing that always amazes me in football is that people always talk about how there’s no way anyone could be better or surpass Ronaldo or Messi. In my time, we talked about Pelé or Maradona. Even names like Zidane or R9 are brought up in those conversations. But then Lamine Yamal appears. And there’s also a new kid in Argentina, Mastantuono, who plays for River Plate and is already winning Clásicos with that free-kick against Boca Juniors," Henry said.
The Frenchman highlighted the surprise of seeing these young players with so much talent and ability to make an impact on football at such a young age. "It’s crazy to think that this kid is 17 years old. I made my debut at 17, and what Lamine Yamal is doing is outstanding. It’s impressive," he added.
According to Henry, what’s happening with these young players shows the constant evolution and surprises that football offers. "It’s amazing to see there’s a new kid on the block who looks set to dominate football. I wish him that," he concluded, emphasising the promise both players hold for the future of the sport.
With figures like Lamine Yamal and Mastantuono, football seems to be entering a new era that could be dominated by these young prodigies. Thierry Henry’s words are a clear reflection of the excitement these emerging talents generate in the footballing world.
