FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are arguably the biggest club rivals in football, as the two are always connected when it comes to success, failures, trophies, and signings. FC Barcelona is optimistic about making signings this summer, but due to their financial struggles, the Catalan club has to be precise when identifying the right players to sign at a low price. On the other hand, Real Madrid is financially stable and reportedly planning to make exciting new signings during the upcoming summer transfer window. Although the current Real Madrid squad is stacked, the Spanish league champions are planning to sign a world-class midfielder, especially after the announcement that Toni Kroos will retire soon. While some reports in Spain suggest that Real Madrid is fine in the midfield department, Diario AS reports that Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich is an option for Real Madrid following Toni Kroos’ retirement. From Germany, they say it will cost around $65m to $75m to start negotiations with Bayern.

Kimmich has similar traits to Kroos, and the Bayern player is adaptable as he can play as a holding midfielder or as a right-back. Although the price tag of around $65 million to $75 million seems a large amount, the Spanish giants could wait until next year as Kimmich’s contract with Bayern Munich expires in the summer of 2025.

Kimmich has been linked to FC Barcelona these past couple of months after signs of the German midfielder open to leave Bayern Munich, especially after their poor season. While Kimmich is linked to many clubs, Sky Sports Germany reported that the player is open to joining FC Barcelona along with other clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, and Real Madrid. With Real Madrid now willing to potentially negotiate, they can now be the favorites to sign him over FC Barcelona this or next summer.
