In a recent statement, Alajuelense urged FIFA to "guarantee transparency and the correct application of its regulations, protecting the integrity of sporting competitions." The club emphasized that no team involved in multi-ownership, a practice prohibited by FIFA in this tournament, should be allowed to participate. "This is essential to uphold the fundamental principles of fair competition that govern world football," the statement read.
