Victoria Beckham is experiencing a tough time personally, despite her flourishing business, which has finally turned a profit after many years of losses, largely supported by her husband, former footballer David Beckham. While she has reason to celebrate professionally, the former Spice Girl seems to be grappling with empty nest syndrome, a situation made even more challenging by the approaching holiday season.
A source close to the couple shared with Heat magazine that Victoria had hoped for a traditional, family-filled Christmas in their Cotswolds mansion. However, her sons, Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz, appear to be neglecting this idea. The prospect of spending the holidays apart has deeply upset her, especially as it sets a precedent for future Christmases. Victoria is beginning to face the reality that her family unit is shifting, and she and David will have to choose which child to spend the holidays with, rather than being together as a whole.
A Family Divided During the Holidays
The Beckham children have different plans for the Christmas season. Brooklyn, the eldest, intends to celebrate in the United States with his wife, Nicola Peltz, who is grieving the recent loss of her grandmother and prefers to stay close to her family during this time. Cruz, who is also in the U.S. pursuing his music career, is expected to join his girlfriend, Brazilian model Jackie Apostel, for the festivities. Romeo, meanwhile, will likely spend the holidays with the family of his new partner, Kim Turnbull.
This leaves the youngest Beckham child, Harper Seven, as the only family member at home this Christmas. As a result, the Beckhams are facing one of their most solitary holiday seasons, planning to reunite only with their parents. Victoria even considered delaying the celebration so that all the children could gather at the family’s Cotswolds home.
David Beckham’s Efforts to Hold on to Tradition
Victoria hopes that at least part of the holiday season can be spent together, even if it means adjusting the schedule to allow everyone to be present. The source added that David Beckham’s approach isn’t helping, as he clings to old family traditions, such as the elf on the shelf and decorating gingerbread houses. Victoria finds this frustrating, as it feels like he is holding on to a past that no longer exists with most of their children now grown. However, David has urged Victoria to focus on the positives, such as the happiness of their children and the fact that they will have Harper and their own parents with them.
