Manchester City are expected to address several areas in their squad during the upcoming January transfer window. Midfield and full-back positions are obvious priorities, but another area of concern for Pep Guardiola is finding adequate support for Erling Haaland. The Norwegian forward has been carrying the team's attacking load this season, but after Julian Alvarez's departure to Atletico Madrid and Oscar Bobb’s injury, the team finds itself lacking depth in the striker position.
A new report suggests that Manchester City may look to sign Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on loan next month. According to Danny Rust and Dean Jones from GIVEMESPORT, Manchester City have made informal inquiries about Muani's situation, as the French striker is not part of PSG manager Luis Enrique's current plans. Additionally, Brighton’s Evan Ferguson has also emerged as a potential target for City, although the focus appears to be on the PSG player.
Randal Kolo Muani has struggled to make a significant impact at PSG this season, registering only two goals in 14 appearances, with most of those being substitute appearances. As a result, he appears surplus to requirements at PSG, potentially giving Manchester City an opportunity to secure the striker’s services. The move would make sense from a City perspective, as they lack a quality backup for Haaland. Muani, who has impressed for France with eight goals in 27 appearances, could be the answer.
A loan move would be a low-risk option for Manchester City, allowing them to assess Muani’s suitability for the team without a long-term commitment. If the deal works out, Muani could prove to be a valuable addition to City’s squad and revive his own career, which has stalled at PSG. If it doesn’t pan out, he would return to Paris, but City would have gained the necessary cover for Haaland.
