Antoine Griezmann may be playing his final matches as an Atletico Madrid player. The news doesn't come from France or an international outlet, but from one of Spain’s most recognised sports journalists: Juanma Castano. During the latest edition of El Partidazo de COPE, he dropped a bombshell that has shaken the rojiblanco fanbase.
"For me, Griezmann won't stay at Atletico next season. I'm convinced of it, and it's not just a gut feeling—people close to the club have told me the same," Castano declared, catching many by surprise.
According to this information, the French international has already decided to end his second spell at the club once the current campaign concludes. If confirmed, it would mark a significant blow to Atletico—both on and off the pitch—as Griezmann is not only one of their most decisive players but also a symbolic figure in the Diego Simeone era.
The forward, who returned to Atletico in 2021 after a controversial move to Barcelona, has rediscovered his best form in recent seasons. He has become the club's all-time top goalscorer and continues to lead in key moments. His departure would leave a major void, not only in terms of footballing quality but also leadership within the squad.
So far, Griezmann's camp has remained silent. The club, too, has not issued any official comment. But the noise is growing louder, and inside the Metropolitano, some are already bracing for the possibility of a farewell.
Griezmann is under contract with Atletico until 2026, but an early exit now seems plausible if he has indeed made his decision. There is speculation he may already have a formal offer from abroad—possibly from MLS or Saudi Arabia—although no concrete names have been revealed.
For Atletico, the scenario is clear: they may soon be forced to reshape their sporting project and find a new attacking leader. And while no goodbyes have been said yet, there is a growing sense that the end of an era may be near.
