The milestone Ronald Araujo could reach with FC Barcelona against Granada

Ronald Araujo has been one of the most influential players in the FC Barcelona squad. Still only 24, he has been seen as one of the main captains of the team. Araujo is a very talented center back that has intrigued many other big clubs in Europe.

Clubs that are interested in signing Araujo next season are Bayern Munich and clubs from the Premier League. Bayern Munich is willing to sell Matthijs De Ligt this summer in order to make space for the FC Barcelona defender. Araujo is valued at around 80 million euros, and the Catalan club does not want to sell their best players. Although FC Barcelona are facing an economic crisis, the sale of Araujo could help the club financially.

Sport reports that one of the big dilemmas at the club is whether or not to sell Araújo, whom clubs are willing to offer €100m for. That income would greatly help Barcelona; it would solve many things, like avoiding breaching FFP rules and funds for new signings. FC Barcelona is considering Jules Kounde as the sacrifice to make since Araujo is playing in his natural position while Kounde plays at the right back position. The Atheltic reported that Bayern was really close to signing Ronald Araujo for €80m this January, but Xavi threatened to resign immediately if the transfer happened. The player was open to the move. Since the Uruguayan defender stayed at Barca for the rest of the season, he is close to reaching a milestone with the Catalan club.

Ronald Araujo could reach 100 games for FC Barcelona if he plays today

If everything goes to plan and no injuries happen, Ronald Araujo will play his 100th La Liga match for FC Barcelona against Granada today. Araujo has played 17 games in La Liga this season. Araujo debuted for FC Barcelona in 2018 and has a contract with Barca that runs until 2026.
