Manchester City has a great start in the Champions League tie against Copenhagen as they won 3-1 in the first leg of the round of 16. Two goals by Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva in the first half were enough to seal the win against Copenhagen at the Parken Stadium.

Manchester City scored their first goal in the 11th minute when Phil Foden from the right side passed a beautiful ball to De Bruyne, who ran in the box and shot the ball low across goal past Grabara and into the bottom left corner. Kevin de Bruyne's last 10 UEFA Champions League goals have come in the competition's knockout rounds.

Copenhagen would find the equalizer in the 34th minute when Ederson accidentally gave the ball away just outside the box. Mohamed Elyounoussi tries to take a shot at goal, but Ruben Dias blocks his shot. Dias’ block rolls to Magnus Mattsson outside the box. Mattsson curls the ball past Ederson. Copenhagen tried to create more chances, but Man City would score again.

In the 45th minute, De Bruyne takes a heavy touch near the box but battles for the ball against Mattsson. The ball does in the box on the path of Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese player flicks the ball over Grabar with the outside of his boot and hits the bottom left corner. De Bruyne has scored and assisted in a Champions League game for the third time in his career.

Phil Foden scores the third goal for Man City late in the game

De Bruyne tried to score again in the second half, but Grabar saved his long shot. Man City continued to dominate the possession of the ball, but every time they lost it, Copenhagen would counter. In the 91st minute, Haaland was close to scoring the third, but a save from the keeper denied him. In the 93rd minute, Foden plays De Bruyne in the box, and then the Belgian cuts it back to Foden. Foden finished from close range and sealed the 3-1 win for City.

Man City won by two goals and will now play the second leg, played on March 6th, at the Etihad Stadium. They are leading 2-1 on aggregate against Copenhagen and have a foot towards the last eight in the tournament.
