Liverpool has identified Brazilian forward João Pedro as a top target for their attacking line in the upcoming 2025/26 season. The Reds are planning to initiate negotiations as early as January, aware of Brighton's reputation for tough negotiations in the English market.

The Brazilian striker has actually been on Liverpool's radar for nearly five years. The most detailed scouting began during his time at Watford in the 2019/20 season, marking his first experience in English football.

Having emerged from Fluminense for a fee of around €12 million, João Pedro possesses the profile sought by Liverpool's Dutch manager, Arne Slot. He is considered a '9.5', a striker who also drops deep into midfield, linking up play. While initial talks between the involved parties are exploratory, Liverpool is expected to accelerate negotiations, given Manchester United's interest in the young goalscorer.

At 23 years old, Brighton's number 9 has been a long-standing target for the Reds, initially under former manager Erik ten Hag and former sporting director Dan Ashworth. It remains to be seen whether new manager Ruben Amorim will continue pursuing this deal.

Both English powerhouses highly value João Pedro, particularly for his impact against top-tier opponents, as demonstrated by his goal against a significant rival last month.
