Manchester United’s manager next season is unknown as Erik Ten Hag could either stay or get sacked by the board and the co-owner of the club, Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Ten Hag managed to guide Manchester United to an FA Cup trophy. Despite this win at the end of the season, the club is analyzing the past season to determine if they want to remain with the Dutch manager. With the rumors suggesting that Ten Hag could head out, rumors grew that the number one choice to replace the Dutch manager was Zinedine Zidane. The French manager was reportedly open to taking the Man United job a few months ago. Now, with the rumor fading away, a frontrunner for the job does not excite fans. New rumors suggest that Mauricio Pochettino is leading the race to be appointed Manchester United manager if INEOS sack Erik Ten Hag.

David McDonnell from the Daily Mirror reports that Manchester United will have to pay Erik Ten Hag close to $11.5 million in compensation if they sack him after they qualify for next season’s Europa League. It is a fee that Man United would be willing to pay to bring in Pochettino, who parted ways with Chelsea a couple of weeks ago. Pochettino has been linked to the Manchester United job in the past and right after he parted ways with Chelsea after the Premier League season ended, that was his likely destination.

Pochettino coached a total of 51 matches for Chelsea this past season across all competitions, which includes the Premier League, the EFL Carabao Cup, and the FA Cup. He guided Chelsea to 27 wins, ten draws, and 14 losses. Chelsea finished 6th in the Premier League table with a record of 18 wins, nine draws, and 11 losses. Pochettino made Chelsea reach the EFL Carabao Cup Final, but they lost 1-0 to Liverpool.
