Real Madrid is building an amazing young squad for the future, and the young players are delivering already. Players like Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr, Camavinga, and Rodrygo are labeled as world-class players, and Real Madrid fans are excited. Despite being excited about the young players, Real Madrid will soon have to decide what to do with some of their senior players.

Two senior players who are legends of the club but are uncertain about their futures are Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. Last year, Kroos signed a one-year contract extension with Real Madrid, which expires this summer. Modric did the same last year, signing a one-year contract with Real Madrid that expires this summer. Madrid is uncertain whether to offer both players another contract extension, especially Modric.

Modric is 38 and will turn 39 in September. The Croatian has played fewer minutes this season than the previous one. Real Madrid waited this transfer window to see if a Saudi Arabia club would want to sign Luka Modrić, but Modric has been clear, and he didn't even consider a January move. There's only Real Madrid for him, and he wants to renew again. Carlo Ancelotti was asked about Modric's future, and he said, "Luka Modrić? He is a legend of Real Madrid and football. He is the one who will decide about next season."

Kroos's situation is slightly different because the club is willing to offer a new contract, but the player is undecided. Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez and Real Madrid CEO José Ángel Sánchez have already informed Kroos that he can renew if he wishes to do so. Kroos is 34 and has been playing more than Modric this season, with 21 games in La Liga compared to Modric's 16, where he started 9.

Kroos is deciding whether to come back to the German national team for the 2024 Euros

Renewing with Real Madrid isn't the only choice Kroos is deciding to make soon. Kroos is now considering coming out of international retirement and playing for Germany at EURO 2024. One of the factors for his potential return is the tournament being held in Germany. Kroos retired from the national team in 2021.
