Real Madrid signing Kylian Mbappé as a free agent is a signing that many clubs are jealous about. PSG has let go of their star player, who is arguably the best player in the history of the French club. Now PSG wants payback, and they want to make a statement by signing one of the best players in the world to replace Mbappé next season. Fabrice Hawkins reports that PSG is very interested in signing Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes. The Brazilian player is a desire of the French club for this summer, but Rodrygo wishes to stay at Real Madrid. Rodrygo’s market value is currently over $110 million, but PSG could be willing to offer more than $150 million to Real Madrid to sign him this summer. The French club could offer him a higher salary as well, which is close to what Mbappé earned. Some fans believe that Rodrygo won’t be able to play as much at Real Madrid since Mbappé will be joining the team this summer.
There were heavy rumors ahead of the Champions League Final that Rodrygo would leave the Spanish club, and Manchester City was showing interest. After the Champions League win, Rodrygo said, “This week some media said about bids, clubs, interest… I don’t know anything about it and I’m not interested. Even if there are proposals, I have no idea about that… I’m staying. I’m happy here. How can I leave Real Madrid.”
Rodrygo’s contract with Real Madrid expires in the summer of 2028 after he signed a contract extension in 2023. Rodrygo played a total of 51 matches with Real Madrid this past season across all competitions. He scored a total of 17 goals and provided nine assists across all competitions. The Brazilian winger is often used as a striker, a right winger, and a left winger whenever Vinicius Jr. is out due to an injury.
Rodrygo will be playing with the Brazilian national team at the Copa America 2024 this summer. Brazil will be playing in Group D, along with Colombia, Costa Rica, and Paraguay. Brazil will first play against Costa Rica on June 24th at SoFi Stadium. Their second match of the group stage is against Paraguay on June 28th at the Allegiant Stadium. The final match in the group stage for Brazil will be against Colombia on July 2nd. If Brazil advances to the quarter-finals, they will play against the runners-up or the group winners of Group C, which includes teams Bolivia, Panama, USA, and Uruguay.
Brazil played two friendlies before the Copa America as they defeated Mexico 3-2 and drew 1-1 against the USA. Rodrygo did not play in the win against Mexico, but he did play against the USA, where he scored the opener in the 17th minute. He won the most duels with seven and completed the most dribbles in the match with three. He played 83 minutes in the friendly against the USA.
