Real Madrid fans accuse Barcelona's Lamine Yamal to be overage, here's the truth

Lamine Yamal is 16 years old but some Real Madrid fans believe the player is older.

Some Real Madrid fans believed Lamine Yamal was 10 in 2015.

Lamine Yamal is setting records at FC Barcelona for his incredible performances at just 16 years of age. The young Spanish winger will turn 17 this July, and the player is set to continue breaking more records as he develops into a better player. While Yamal is impressing Barcelona fans by being a crucial player for the team at such a young age, some Real Madrid fans believe that he is actually older than what he claims to be.

An X post suggested that Lamine Yamal was ten years old in 2015 due to a newspaper that talked about the youngster. Yamal was wearing the 2015/16 jersey in the newspaper, which reflected the qualities of the young player. In the newspaper, it showed a picture of the young Yamal and read, "We are aware that we are talking about a kid who is 10 years old. Many disproved this claim as the newspaper was published in 2017, not 2015. If the newspaper was published in 2015, it would mean the player is currently 18 not 16.

Another claim suggesting that Yamal is lying about his age is a YouTube video of him showing his skills with Youtuber on the pitch. A video shot on March 15th, 2021, has the title called "16-year-old Lamine Yamal has it all to be the future of Barca!". This has been disproven in the video itself when the Youtuber and Lamine Yamal state that the player was 13 during the shoot. This once again proves that these rumors of Yamal being over 16 are lies, and the small movement from a small group of Real Madrid fans used false evidence.
