Pep Guardiola's words about De Bruyne after his exhibition against Newcastle
Josep Guardiola had nothing but praises for the Belgian.
Manchester City today managed to make an epic comeback against Newcastle, in a match that they were losing 2-1 until Kevin de Bruyne entered the field after months of injury, and saved the team in a majestic way with a goal and an assist in the last minutes. Now, Josep Guardiola spoke post-match on the subject...
“He is a special player. He is very loved by everyone. He is fresh. Five months is a long time. In the second half of the season he can help us be there until the end." The coach's words did not stop there, as he was in awe of De Bruyne.
“He needs to have a little more freedom and space to be able to move wherever he wants... When Kevin has the ball, we need fast players like Oscar, Phil or Erling. “Bobb’s goal today was fantastic.”
Pep Guardiola revealed why Kevin was not a starter:
"I had the feeling that he wasn't ready to play 90 minutes because he had been out. He's not 22 anymore and he's a year older. The older you get, the more careful you have to be to take care of yourself." Now, it is expected that little by little De Bruyne will accumulate more and more minutes.
