Not Neymar, Rodrygo names his role model in football and he admires

Football has many legends, and current players are admirers of some footballers from the past. Players like Ronaldinho, Zidane, Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, and more are influential in the game and are legends. This past decade includes new names that will be in the football history books, like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar. Rodrygo is one of the best young players in the world and admires Neymar, but he is not his role model.

Rodrygo spoke about Neymar in a positive light while he played for Brazil in the 2022 World Cup with him. Rodrygo considers Neymar as the main man in the Brazilian national team. Rodrygo said, "It doesn't change anything if he [Neymar] is 31 or not; he continues with the same quality as always. He remains our main player. Of course, when we lose or draw a game, the responsibility will be greater on him, but when we win, it becomes clear that he is our best player, and we depend a lot on him."

Rodrygo also doesn't like the criticism Neymar receives from fans and the media. Rodrygo said, "He is very important on the field and off the field, too. As much as they always say bad things about him, people who live closely with him know that he is totally different from the image that some people have of him. And because I have him as an idol, I'm often sad to see certain comments, to hear the things people say because he helps me a lot." While Rodrygo admires Neymar as an idol, he isn't his main role model.

Rodrygo's main role model is Cristiano Ronaldo

Rodrygo recently spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo being his main role model in football. He said, "Cristiano Ronaldo is my role model. He's like a superhero. I've always followed him since I was little. He was the player I admired the most. I don't know him personally that much, but I saw him once, and I was able to take a picture with him. It was one of the most special moments as I had the opportunity to meet my role model.
