Not Mbappé nor Haaland, the favorites for the 2024 Ballon d'Or

The Ballon d'Or award is a dream to win for many footballers as it rewards them for being the best player in the world. Legends of the game have won this award, and now one of the next generation of footballers could finally win this award this year. Lionel Messi won the 2023 Ballon d'Or ahead of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé, but this year seems different since the Argentine is still playing lots of games in the MLS. Although many football fans complained that the award should've been for Haaland, this year, it might be difficult for him to win it due to the time out because of injury and his goal record not being like last season with Manchester City.

There have been odds of the player's likely to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or, and the list may surprise football fans. FourFourTwo reported the top five players who are likely to win the Ballon d'Or. In their list, Messi is fifth in the ranking of favorites for the Ballon d'Or. While he is playing in the MLS with Inter Miami, Messi could win another trophy for Argentina this summer as the Copa America tournament takes place. Argentina will look to defend their title as they are the current champions.

In 4th place is Harry Kane from Bayern Munich. Kane currently has 31 goals in 26 Bundesliga matches this season for Bayern. This goal record is insane, but what could hold him back is the lack of silverware. Bayern is second in the Bundesliga with 60 points, while Bayer Leverkusen leads with 70 points. Bayern Munich will play against Arsenal in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Haaland is the third favorite for the Ballon d'Or this year. Haaland has missed a couple of games due to injury, but he still leads the Premier League's top goal-scorer team. He has scored 18 goals in 23 Premier League matches this year for Man City so far.

Jude Bellingham is currently favorite over Kylian Mbappé

Kylian Mbappé is second on the list and he could likely win it this year for his performances at PSG and if he wins the Euros with France this summer. Mbappé has 24 goals in 24 Ligue 1 matches for PSG this season.

Bellingham is the favorite to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or, as his debut season with Real Madrid has been amazing. As a midfielder, he scored 16 goals in 22 matches for Real Madrid in La Liga. He has a higher chance to win if Real Madrid wins La Liga and the Champions League. If Bellingham could win the Euros with England this summer, it puts him as the clear favorite.
