Karim Benzema has been looking for a way out from Saudi Arabia this winter transfer window. The French striker signed with Al-Ittihadin the summer of 2023 from Real Madrid. The former Real Madrid striker signed with the Saudi Arabian club for three years until 2026.

Manchester United and Chelsea have been heavily linked with Benzema this winter window. Manchester United wants to bring the player on loan to add depth in the striker position and to help the younger players in the squad. This has been a strategy used in the past by Man United. The Red Devils signed Edison Cavani on a free transfer in 2020 for two years. It could be a similar situation as Cavani came to add experience to the team. Benzema could help Hojlund develop and score goals to meet objectives this season.

Chelsea is the most interested of the two as they are offering him a 6-month loan deal move. Chelsea could also use the French striker since their two main strikers are very young. Nicolas Jackson and Broja have occupied the position, but with the addition of Benzema, the young pair of strikers could learn from him. Jackson is currently out with Senegal for the African Cup of Nations and Chelsea counts on Broja as their only natural striker. The arrival of Benzema could solve that issue.
