Atletico Madrid are actively working behind the scenes as they prepare to strengthen their squad for next season, with a clear priority in mind: signing a new striker. One of the names gaining serious traction is Jean-Philippe Mateta, currently playing for Crystal Palace. The French forward, aged 27, has caught the attention of the Spanish giants thanks to his impressive campaign in the Premier League.

According to Fichajes.net, Mateta has already scored 14 goals this season, and his physical presence, combined with his clinical finishing, make him an ideal fit for Diego Simeone’s system. The club believes that his profile perfectly matches the demands of their tactical setup: powerful, direct, and effective in front of goal.

Atletico are seeking a forward who can hit the ground running and adapt quickly to La Liga. Mateta, with his experience in one of Europe's toughest leagues, ticks many of the boxes. His ability to hold up play, connect with teammates, and exploit spaces makes him an attractive option.

Though no formal offer has been made yet, Atletico are closely monitoring the situation and analysing the conditions for a potential deal. Crystal Palace may struggle to keep hold of the striker if a solid offer arrives, and Atletico are already weighing their options.

A new attacking target for Simeone

Jean-Philippe Mateta has emerged as a serious candidate to lead Atletico’s front line. While there are still decisions to be made, the Frenchman looks set to be a key name on the club’s radar in the upcoming transfer window.
