Neymar was injured throughout the season but still earned millions at Al Hilal; how it compares to other clubs’ budget

Neymar Jr. earns a luxurious contract at Al Hilal, and he joined the club last summer from PSG for a transfer fee of around $98.6 million. The move shocked many football fans, but many are convinced by the wages he is on. Neymar is one of the richest athletes in the world, as he reportedly earns a yearly wage of around $106.6 million. Since the Brazilian star only made five appearances for Al Hilal this season, many expected the contract to be terminated, but the Brazilian has earned more than $80 million from the base contract and an extra $28 million from sponsorships or partnerships like Puma. Marketing Registrado reports that Neymar’s earnings are more than 16 of the first-division Brazilian clubs’ budgets.

In the Serie A Brasilierao, only four clubs earned more than Neymar last year. Those clubs are Flamengo, Corinthians, Palmeiras, and Sao Paulo. Flamengo makes the most out of any Brazilian club in the Serie A Brasilierao as they reportedly made $269 million. In second place is Corinthians, who reportedly made around $183 million. Palmeiras is ranked third in the Brazilian club, which earned the most last year, as they earned around $178 million. Sao Paulo is 4th in the Brazilian clubs with the highest revenue in 2023, as they reportedly made around $133 million.

The rest of the top 10 Brazilian clubs that earned the most last year were Athletico-PR, Red Bull Bragantino, Fluminense, Gremio, Atletico Mineiro, and Santos FC. Neymar overtook all of these clubs in terms of earrings last year. Athletico-PR is fifth on the list, with reported earnings of $100 million. Red Bull Bragantino is below them on the list, with earnings of $95 million. Fluminense, the Copa Libertadores champions, earned $94 million last year. Gremio earned $91 million, Atletico Mineiro earned $86 million, and Santos FC earned $83 million.

Neymar’s recovery process

Neymar has shown that he is close to being fully fit and starting team training in the next few months. The Brazilian is seen doing exercises to recover from his ACL injury. The exercises are done in Al Hilal’s gym facilities. Neymar has started juggling the ball, and he could be expected to be fully fit by the start of next season.
