Bayer Leverkusen showcased a dominant performance against Bayern Munich, showing the quality of Alonso's tactics. Leverkusen took the lead in the 18th minute courtesy of a close-range shot by Josip Stanisic. The Bayern Munich loan player punishes his parent club after a great cross by Robert Andrich. In the 50th minute, Nathan Tella plays a great pass to Alejandro Grimaldo in the box. Grimaldo shoots the ball at Manuel Neuer's near post and made it 2-0 for Leverkusen. Late in the game, Neuer would go up for a corner kick to try and initiate a race for an equalizer.

This was a terrible mistake by the German keeper as the ball was cleared from the box by Edmond Tapsoba and passed to the rapid Jeremie Frimpong. Frimpong passes by Guerreiro with ease and curls the shot from far out into the empty net to make it 3-0. Leverkusen is still first in the Bundesliga with 55 points. They have played 31 games in all competitions this season with 27 wins, 4 draws, and no defeats. They have scored 93 goals and only conceded 22 so far this season. Alonso has impressed Liverpool fans, but his work also impresses big European giants who look to challenge Liverpool for his signature in the summer.
