In an interview with RAC1, Joan Laporta confirmed the economic effort he has made to significantly reduce FC Barcelona's wage bill.

However, as UEFA's European Club Finance and Investment Landscape Report points out, Barça is still the team in Europe that spends the most on salaries (€639 million), with a worrying ratio of salaries to income, with salaries accounting for 78% of the club's income.
