The NBA Commissioner talked about NBA games potentially played in Barcelona.

FC Barcelona does not want to fall short in collaborations with other popular sports leagues in the future. Their rivals Real Madrid have just secured to host an NFL regular season game next year at the Santiago Bernabeu. After the NFL and Real Madrid announcement last week, NBA commissioner Adam Silver spoke about a potential NBA game hosted in Barcelona. FC Barcelona could work with the NBA soon after Silver's words, and the Catalan club could be working to get something down soon despite their renovated stadium being completed in 2026.

The NBA hosted a regular season game early this year in France. On January 11th, the 2024 NBA Paris Game took place at the AccorHotels Arena. The Cleveland Cavaliers played the Brooklyn Nets in Paris. The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Brooklyn Nets 111-102. Kylian Mbappe, Ronaldo Nazario, and David Beckham were in the front row at the game. The arena was filled with nearly 15,000 fans. Barcelona wants to host the next NBA game that will take place in Europe.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver was asked if Barcelona would be able to host a regular NBA game in the future. Silver said, "FC Barcelona is a great basketball and football club, of course. There's a big sporting culture in Spain. The problem is that it's hard for these NBA players to play in Europe during the middle of the season, but we're looking for opportunities." Silver referred to FC Barcelona Bàsquet, who is one of the most successful basketball teams in the world.

FC Barcelona Bàsquet play in the Liga ACB and EuroLeague in the Palau Blaugrana Arena. The arena holds 7,585 seats, which could be an option for an NBA game. Some championships the Barca basketball team has won are 2 EuroLeagues, 20 Spanish Championships, and 27 Spanish Cups.
