Real Madrid's star forward, Kylian Mbappé, was recently hospitalized due to an acute case of gastroenteritis. This development has raised questions about his availability for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup match against Pachuca on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

Mbappé's illness had already forced him to miss Real Madrid's opening fixture in the Club World Cup against Al Hilal. On Thursday, June 19, Real Madrid confirmed that the French international had been admitted to a hospital in Florida for tests and treatment. Later that day, the club issued another statement confirming his discharge from the hospital, noting that he would continue with "specific medical treatment and would progressively rejoin team activity."

Despite being discharged, Mbappé did not participate in full team training on Friday. Instead, he underwent individual training at the team hotel's gym, as he continues his recovery. His status for the match against Pachuca remains a major doubt.

Real Madrid's coach, Xabi Alonso, had previously expressed uncertainty about Mbappé's return, stating that the player had been "in rough shape" and unable to train for days. The team will be closely monitoring his progress leading up to Sunday's game.

The absence of Mbappé would be a significant blow for Real Madrid as they aim to advance in the Club World Cup. The team's performance against Al Hilal, which ended in a 1-1 draw, highlighted the importance of their key offensive players.

The match between Real Madrid and Pachuca is scheduled to take place at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. Fans and media alike will be awaiting an official update on Mbappé's condition closer to kick-off to determine if he will be able to feature in this crucial Club World Cup encounter.
