Particularly, Manchester United has gotten rid of a couple of players from their squad this winter transfer window. Man United listed players out on loan like Donny van de Beek, Facundo Pellestri, Hannibal, and Jadon Sancho. A Man United legend was close to making a move this window and returning to the Premier League, but he didn’t end up completing the move.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea was close to making a return to the Premier League after not securing a club this past few months. De Gea left Man United last summer on a free as his contract expired, and the club did not renew his contract. Ever since then, the Spanish keeper has been linked by clubs like Real Madrid and Sevilla and a move to Saudi Arabian clubs. David De Gea rejects Nottingham Forest in the winter transfer window

The Athletic reports that Nottingham Forest was interested in the ex-Man United keeper this winter window. Forest has been struggling to find an ideal keeper in their team after bringing Matt Turner from Arsenal and Odysseas Vlachodimos from Benfica. Instead of bringing De Gea, Forest signed Matz Sels from Strasbourg from Ligue 1 for 8 million pounds.

De Gea remains without a club but could still sign for a club despite the transfer window being closed. The Spanish keeper is a free agent and could be waiting for an appealing opportunity. He made 545 appearances for Manchester United, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Carabao Cup, and the Europa League.
