Manchester City is enduring its most challenging season under Pep Guardiola’s leadership. With nine losses already in the 2024/25 campaign, the reigning Premier League champions find themselves far from the top of the table. Currently trailing Liverpool, the league leaders, by 12 points with a game in hand, City is working tirelessly to regain momentum.
The team's struggles extend to the UEFA Champions League, where they have only managed eight points in six matches during the group stage, placing them dangerously close to elimination. These performances have spurred the club’s management into action as they look to bolster their squad in the upcoming transfer window.
One of City’s primary targets is Omar Marmoush, an Egyptian forward who has earned the nickname “The new Mohamed Salah.” Marmoush has been playing in Germany since 2017 and is enjoying a breakout season with Eintracht Frankfurt. After joining the club on a free transfer from Wolfsburg in 2023, the 25-year-old has become a Bundesliga sensation, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists in just 15 league matches.
Manchester City is reportedly ready to spend €80 million to secure Marmoush’s services. According to Sky Germany and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the player has already agreed to personal terms, with only negotiations between the clubs left to finalize the deal.
Marmoush isn’t the only player on City’s radar. The club is also preparing a €40 million bid for Vitor Reis, an 18-year-old central defender from Palmeiras. Known for his composure and potential, Reis is seen as a long-term investment for the team's backline. Reports suggest that an agreement with the player has already been reached, and the transfer could be officially announced in the coming days.
