Manchester United have responded firmly to Napoli’s initial bid for Alejandro Garnacho, setting a high price of €80m for the young Argentinian winger. Napoli, currently planning for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s expected departure to Paris Saint-Germain, identified Garnacho as a top target, but their first offer of €45m (£38m) was swiftly rejected.
The Red Devils, under manager Ruben Amorim, are struggling in the Premier League, sitting 13th after 20 matches. However, back-to-back solid performances against Liverpool and Arsenal have shown glimpses of potential. Amorim is focused on reshaping the squad to align with his tactical vision, though financial limitations may require player sales.
With Kvaratskhelia "virtually a PSG player," Napoli has acted quickly to scout replacements. Reports from Gazzetta dello Sport reveal that Napoli representatives have initiated discussions with Garnacho’s agents in Barcelona to assess the feasibility of a transfer. However, Manchester United’s demand for €80m has cast doubt on the deal’s likelihood.
Napoli’s approach reflects the urgency to maintain competitiveness in Serie A and European competitions. Yet, Garnacho remains a central figure in United’s long-term plans, as Amorim seeks to build a team capable of challenging for titles.
While Garnacho’s future dominates headlines, young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is also attracting significant interest. Chelsea reportedly values the player at £70m, but United has shown no inclination to let him leave.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano addressed the situation, stating:“Mainoo remains an important player for Manchester United. The delay in his contract extension is due to internal changes in the club’s structure. Negotiations are ongoing, and both the club and the player are confident about resolving the matter.”
