Man Utd players' nickname for Hojlund causes social media controversy

Rasmus' teammates made jokes that many users did not like.

They mocked Rasmus.

Rasmus Hojlund arrived last summer at Manchester United for nearly $90 million from Atalanta in Italy. There he had shown good performances and scored enough goals to attract the attention of Europe's top clubs. Many even compared him to Erling Haaland, not only because of their position on the field, but also because of their physical resemblance and the fact that they are both from Nordic countries (Rasmus is Danish and Erling is Norwegian).

However, their first few months in England were disappointing. While he scored several goals in the Champions League group stage, he struggled to adapt in the Premier League and went more than four months without scoring his first goal there. The bad run came to an end on December 26, when he netted the decisive goal in the 3-2 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford, and from then on everything changed.

Since then Hojlund has scored 7 goals in 20 English league games and this weekend he achieved an impressive record: in the win vs Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, he became the youngest player in Premier League history to score goals in six consecutive games. Not even Erling Haaland could compete with that statistic.

But the celebrations turned into a controversy after the final whistle, when Rasmus shared on Instagram some images of the match on his official Instagram account and his teammates wrote him messages of all kinds. The one that caught everyone's attention was from Johnny Evans: the English defender wrote "Class Millsy". This is a cruel reference to the Australian singer Sean Mills, to whom Hojlund was compared as a mockery by fans of other clubs.

There were reactions of all kinds

After Evans' comment, some users on social media wrote comments adding to the joke. One opined: "Loool he's violating". Another added: "Brilliant on and off the pitch". And a third wrote: "Oh they tease him with it". However, many others felt it was a disrespectful nickname not only for Rasmus Hojlund, but also for Sean Mills.
