Liverpool has been trying to find the right replacement for Jurgen Klopp this summer. The Reds have already brought in significant personnel to the club to try to find the right manager for the team. As Jurgen Klopp was set to leave, the Reds tracked Bayer Leverkusen's manager, Xabi Alonso. The former Liverpool midfielder rejected them and Bayern Munich, who was also interested in appointing the Spanish manager, after he announced that he would stay with Bayer Leverkusen next season. With Alonso out of the picture, the club has been identifying other candidates to replace Klopp this summer, and one of those names is Sporting CP coach Ruben Amorim.

Amorim has been linked to a move to the Premier League in the past, as Manchester United showed interest. The Portuguese coach has guided Sporting to the top of the Liga Portugal table with 68 points. The Portuguese play style is often very attacking, which is how Liverpool plays with Klopp. Amorim plays with a 3-5-2 formation, which could affect certain players in the current Liverpool squad.

While his resume and football culture are impressive, Liverpool will face competition for the signature of the Portuguese. Amorim has certain release clauses in his contract with Sporting CP that intrigues Liverpool into appointing him. For Portuguese clubs, his release clause is worth $32.3 million. For clubs outside of Portugal, like Liverpool, the release clause is worth $21.5 million. Portuguese sources like journalist Pedro Sepulveda suggest that Liverpool will have to pay $16.1 million.
