The revelation of European soccer this season has been Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. The team currently coached by former Spanish soccer player Xabi Alonso is the only team that remains undefeated in Europe's top leagues and is on track to win the German league title, ending Bayern Munich's hegemony of the last 11 tournaments.

Leverkusen has been a surprising team this season, in which in addition to fighting for the Bundesliga title, they are in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League, a tournament in which they could face another of Xabi Alonso's former teams, Liverpool. In that sense, thanks to his great work as coach of the German side, Alonso has become one of the most sought-after coaches in European soccer.
As a player he was a world-class figure and went on to play for the aforementioned Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, three teams with whom he has been linked ahead of next season. However, Real Madrid have just renewed Carlo Ancelotti, but both Bayern and the Reds are still looking for a new coach for next season and Xabi Alonso's name is one of the most mentioned.
However, it seems that his future would not be to coach one of his former clubs either. The former president of Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeneß, assured that in his opinion "it will be very difficult to sign Xabi Alonso, not to say probably impossible", furthermore, he detailed that he imagines the Spanish tactician staying with Bayer Leverkusen to continue with the good work he has done.
