Inter Miami has officially announced that DeAndre Yedlin will be leaving the club to join MLS side FC Cincinnati. The former Inter Miami captain has played with Lionel Messi since the Argentine made the move to the MLS. Yedlin played the first three games for Inter Miami in the 2024 MLS season and also featured in the preseason tour abroad.

Inter Miami put out a statement about the transfer move that read, "The club has traded defender DeAndre Yedlin to FC Cincinnati, gaining important roster flexibility, in addition to acquiring $172,799 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM)."

Yedlin played 28 matches in the MLS last season, starting in 25 of them. Yedlin also had a career in Europe before he arrived at Inter Miami. He played for clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, Newcastle United, and Galatasaray. FC Cincinnati will be his third MLS club since he played at Seattle Sounders nearly ten years ago.

Rumors suggest that the replacement for Yedlin will be Houston Dynamo defender Franco Escobar. Journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reported that Inter Miami made formal bid for the defender last month but there was no agreement between the parties. The move of Yedlin reportedly frees up $683,000 in salary cap for the club, and that means the club could potentially sign another free agent whose wages are high.
