Oscar Bobb was very close to scoring late in the first half, but a brilliant sliding block by Pedro Porro denied him. Pep Guardiola's team played 8 hours and 15 minutes of football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at halftime without scoring a goal.
At the start of the second half, Alvarez missed a huge chance when he controlled the ball in the box, and shit shot was slightly deflected off target. Timo Werner started a great play for Spurs as he cut inside and found a great ball to Johnson. Ortega rushed Johnson to take the shot, and he managed to make a save. Werner was one again dangerous on the wing, and the Spurs players demanded a penalty for a handball. In the replay, Werner hits the ball onto Dias’ chest while having his arms back.
Spurs brought the intensity up and looked like a completely different team from the first half. Spurs were now trying to punish Man City by attacking them consistently. Kevin De Bruyne entered the pitch in the 64th minute of the game. In the 80th minute, Silva took a shot on target in the box, but Vicario's great save stopped the ball from going in.
Kevin De Bruyne had a great chance to score in the box a minute later, but his shot just went wide. De Bruyne is used to finishing those chances, and it was a huge miss by the Belgian midfielder. Nathan Ake, in the 88th minute, breaks the curse of not scoring a goal in this stadium to give Man City the win. Spurs players complained about a foul on Vicario but VAR checked it and said there was nothing. Ake and Man City advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
